ABOUT SKYSPECS

SkySpecs envisions a world where wind energy is the most affordable form of electricity and therefore ubiquitous around the world. SkySpecs is helping to make this possible by automating the operations and maintenance of wind farms using advanced robotics paired with our custom-built asset performance management software, Horizon.

SkySpecs launched the world’s first completely autonomous blade inspection product in 2016 with a custom designed drone system. Since then, SkySpecs has inspected over 25,000 wind turbines in 16 countries, becoming the world leader in understanding the health of turbine blades. Identifying issues with turbine blades is only the first step. In 2019 SkySpecs launched Horizon to be a platform for SkySpecs to offer a multi-layered solution for customers that includes: data collection, wind turbine blade engineering expertise, and a place for all stakeholders to collaborate to manage and analyze massive amounts of data, spot trends, and create plans for high-cost repair campaigns. Ultimately, this will help reduce the cost and risk of operations for the industry.

WHAT WILL I BE GETTING MYSELF INTO?

SkySpecs will probably be unlike any place you’ve ever worked. The second you walk in the door, you will feel the high energy environment filled with incredibly smart people solving hard problems. SkySpecs is at a critical growth period where there are an endless number of opportunities to make an impact. You will initially be thrown into top priority sales and marketing initiatives to accelerate our growth. This will include running email marketing campaigns, collaborating with 3rd-party paid advertising vendors to run killer lead-gen campaigns, helping to configure and optimize workflows and campaigns using marketing automation software, and serving as the key driver of our robust event/conference marketing agenda.

The marketing manager will work closely with the marketing director, sales team, and product team to help drive awareness of our products and services, and to bring in more qualified leads.

  • Is comfortable exploring the huge number of digital marketing tools out there and making recommendations about which might have the highest impact on our sales
  • Knows how to manage WordPress without screaming obscenities at their co-workers
  • Is a self-starter, and comfortable creating process and procedure where none may yet exist
  • Likes to measure ROI (or lack thereof) using GA
  • Is an excellent writer, communicator and content creator
  • Can handle juggling multiple projects and competing priorities
  • Has worked with graphic designers and/or creative directors and knows how to manage the development of marketing collateral from concept to completion

IN A GIVEN WEEK, THE MARKETING MANAGER WILL…

  • Design and execute email campaigns and provide KPIs
  • Manage the weedy details of conference planning
  • Monitor and provide reporting on digital/paid campaigns
  • Juggle the competing needs of sales requests for marketing content
  • Work in WordPress to optimize our website’s SEO, update content, and work with a UX Designer to make it look great
  • Create video marketing content
  • Write website content
  • Stay on top of what the competition is doing and report back to those who need to know
  • Interview internal/SkySpecs experts in their field and create content out of it

MUST HAVES…

  • 3-5 years B2B marketing experience
  • 3 relevant writing samples that have been previously published or used in a professional capacity
  • Be full-time and based in SkySpecs’ Ann Arbor office
  • Willing to travel periodically
